I have been working on a query letter for my novel, and while I have received some wonderful comments, help and suggestions, I wanted to get some help from YOU. My devoted blog readers, hopefully part of my future book readers.

What I need help with- telling me what you like, or don't like. What draws you in, suggestions on how you might word it differently to be more appealing.
I have three different synopsis/queries. Please tell me your favorite (vote), and leave any comments or suggestions, but adding a comment in here on google docs. You can submit a comment by highlighting what you would change or what you like, then going to toolbar, insert, and click comment.

I need to know which one you would most likely buy upon reading the description. If you like certain parts of one, but would use it in a different one, please tell me that too.

I really appreciate this and all of the feedback that I get is VALUABLE beyond words.
Thank you!

Author Interview Monday with Melinda Metz and Laura Burns authors of Crave

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_d2di2yfZo7A/TFNYhEDZLPI/AAAAAAAACUk/c_eWA3H2sQQ/s200/melinda+and+laura+pic.jpg

Crave Please welcome Melina and Laura to the blog today- their newest book Crave was released Sept 21 2010. You can find my review here. They have graciously agreed to answer some interview questions for the blog.

--Can you give us a brief description of Crave in your own words?

We've discovered that it's hard to describe this book briefly! Shay has been sick with a rare blood disorder for her whole life. Finally her stepfather, who's also her doctor, begins giving her transfusions of a new blood...blood that gives Shay visions of the life of a man named Gabriel. It's not long before Shay realizes that Gabriel is a vampire--and that the visions are more than they seem.

--How did you get the idea for the story?

We've always loved vampires, and we wanted to do a twist on the typical vampire romance. We started with the idea of transfusions as a different way to "drink" blood. It's usually a vampire feeding from a human, but in our case, it's the opposite.

--How was it co-writing a story? Did you each do a certain element of the story?

Well, we work together a lot, and we've done so for many years. So for us, the only difference between co-writing and writing alone is that it's more fun working together! The way we do it is that we spend a bunch of time at the beginning just talking through the plot and the characters. By the time we sit down to write, we have a complete outline of each chapter and we've discussed what the characters' personalities and voices are like in great detail. Then we split the outline in half and one of us writes the first half while the other writes the second. Afterwards, we both go through the whole thing several times and edit it. If any big questions come up, we discuss them and fix them together. When we're done, we barely know who wrote what anymore.

--Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with?

From CRAVE?

LJB: Hmm.  I would like to have dinner with Sam, because he's just a good guy and has lived for hundreds of years and still managed to hold on to his optimistic outlook.

MM:  My first thought was Ernst, just because he's the oldest and has seen the most.  But it would just end with one of us storming out of the restaurant (I don't cook!) or dead.  I think I'm going to go with Sam too!

--What are some of your favorite books? Do you still have much time to read?

LJB: I have little kids, so my reading time is severely limited! My all-time favorite books are The Lord of the Rings, and I re-read them every five years or so. Otherwise, lately I've been reading a lot of biographies. The world is so crazy these days that I find it comforting to read true-life stories about how, well, the world has always been crazy!
MM:  I read all the time, and I try to convince myself it's work related and so it's fine to be reading when I really should be writing.  I'm even in two book clubs.  For one of them, I just read The Selected Works of T.S. Spivet by Reif Larsen, and was blown away by it. I'm also a fan of John Green, Stephen King, and Margaret Atwood.

--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?

LJB: Pride and Prejudice, because I identify so closely with Elizabeth that I feel as if we think the same way. And she gets to go marry Mr. Darcy, the original tall, dark, and handsome hero. So what could be bad?

MM:  I think I'd like to live in Anne of Green Gables world for a day.  Okay, Gilbert Blythe is no Mr. Darcy, but he's not bad.  And I'd like to hang out with Anne.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on the Crave "playlist-" songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?

LJB: Honestly, whenever I try to write with music on in the background, I end up sitting there listening to music and not writing at all. What I've been doing to get in the mood while writing the sequel to Crave is that I put on music during my "study breaks"--while I'm eating, or stretching my legs. I've been listening to old Radiohead, PJ Harvey, and the soundtrack from Baz Luhrmann's Romeo & Juliet.

MM:  I don't write with music on either.  I either get too caught up in it (like Laura), or I get so caught up in writing that I don't hear it at all.  I go over to Starbucks and drink iced green tea when I'm feeling stuck, as much for a change of scene than anything.

--Could you give us any teasers from the sequel? There will be one right??

Yes! It's called ARISE. Um, teasers...  You'll get to know Gabriel's family better, and some people will die!

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

LJB: Does being immortal count? If not, I'd probably choose to fly.

MM:  I'd like the power to grant wishes.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?

LJB: I never write in my free time! My poor wrists couldn't take it. I'm a big TV watcher. And I spend way too much time online reading recaps and discussions of shows. Why do I read recaps of episodes I've already seen? It makes no sense, but I do it anyway.

MM:  I read recaps of shows I've already watched too.  I actually never read recaps of the ones I haven't seen.  I also go to movies a ton.  It's a rare movie I have no interest in seeing.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?

LJB: Thanks for all the support for CRAVE!

MM:  Don't hate us for the cliffhanger.  And thanks!

Thank you!!

3rd In Heavenly series

**My rating: 5/5**

*My Review*

I really love the Heavenly series by Jennifer, and this book did not let me down. Absolution had everything that I hoped for and more! It is such a story of hope, repentance, forgiveness, and true love. It not only demonstrates a familial love, working through troubles and coming out stronger, but what love in friendship should be like, as well as romantic love.
Zoe has really matured and blossomed and she deals with everything that bombards her in such a loving and awesome way. I really have grown to love her character and admire her actions. She is not perfect, but she is perfectly written. I love her bravery, and her mouth even though it gets her in trouble occasionally.
Abria is ever present and she continues to teach love, acceptance and tolerance. I adore her character, her innocence, and her complete trust. I also appreciate how she is given a bit of hope in this book while still being realistic to the disease.
Weston is ever handsome and gentlemanly in this book... while he is himself. There are a few scenes that I was not happy with, but I understand why they are written and his actions... if that makes any sense. I really appreciate his love and loyalty to Zoe, even with her conflicted heart.
Matthias is as wonderful as ever in Absolution as well. His character has always been so pure, loving, and he has this non-judgmental way of telling it like it as and how it should be. His faith and steadfast convictions in those he loves really just makes me want to cry, and yearn for that to be directed my way.
Laurens really has written a masterpiece, and I would recommend getting your hands on this book and the series as quickly as you can!

I would love to hear what you think of the book and/or my review!

Review: Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

The Iron Queen
Iron Queen by Julie Kagawa

I thought it was over. That my time with the fey, the impossible choices I had to make, the sacrifices of those I loved, was behind me. But a storm is approaching, an army of Iron fey that will drag me back, kicking and screaming. Drag me away from the banished prince who's sworn to stay by my side. Drag me into the core of a conflict so powerful, I'm not sure anyone can survive it.

This time, there will be no turning back.

3rd In Iron Fey series

**My rating: 5/5**

*My Review*

Julie does it again! The Iron Queen is amazing- even better than the first two in my opinion. There is action, suspense, and breath taking romance. The characters grow and come to life again in this third book in the series. Words really aren't adequate for how much I enjoyed this book. I devoured it in the car on the way to NJ, and didn't stop pretty much the whole time, until I reached the last page.
Meghan is amazing in this book. She has such a fierce heart, loyal and protective to her family and to those that she loves. We see her internal struggles, and they are all believable, and I sympathize and understand where she is coming from. She never refuses to give up and it is really inspiring. She also learns to fight and defend herself physically in this book and I am really grateful to see that.
This amazing side of Ash comes out in this book, and some of his lines really made my heart race and I had a case of jealousy, I must admit. This romantic and loyal side of him has been hinted at in previous books, but I really got a glimpse of his heart in this book, and I loved what I saw.
My only complaint is that I feel it ended too soon! I think that Julie did a great job of wrapping up the pieces, and that the ending is very fitting for the book and the series themes. I just wanted MORE!! I cannot wait to get my hands on The Iron Knight and see things through Ash's perspective and more importantly what happens next.
This is truly a captivating book, and I recommend to read it as soon as you can!

I would love to hear what you think of the book and/or my review!

VA Last Sacrifice Dimitri Belikov Trailer

Who do you think?

Review: Fallen Angel by Heather Terrell

Fallen Angel (Fallen Angel, #1)
Fallen Angel by Heather Terrell

The first book in a dark, edgy new angel series about a girl who finds herself forced to choose sides in the battle between fallen angels, even if that means going against the boy she loves.

When Ellie Faneuil first sees Michael Chase she feels an instantaneous connection. But she does not realize how much they have in common, including the ability fly and to see what others are thinking - not to mention a taste for blood. Reveling in their new powers and their growing feelings for each other, Ellie and Michael are determined to uncover what they are, and how they got this way ... together.
But the truth has repercussions neither could have imagined. Soon they find themselves center stage in an ancient conflict between fallen angels that threatens to destroy everything they love. And it is no longer clear whether Ellie and Michael will choose the same side.

In this electrifying novel Heather Terrell spins a gripping tale of soul-mates, supernatural powers and a truth that will change Ellie and Michael‘s world forever.

1st in a series, the next Eternity will be out Jun 28th 2011

**My rating: 4/5**

*My Review*

Fallen Angel is a suspenseful and romantic read! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and couldn't put it down. Though angels have been really popular lately, Terrell adds her own twist.
The romance was a large part of the plot, but there were plenty of other things going on. The plot was well paced, and I felt like events unfolded in a manner to make me curious but not too quickly so that I was confused. The romance was sweet. The way that they worked together to figure out the mystery of who they were and what their purpose was did make Ellie and Michael special.
I really enjoyed the best friend, Ruth. I am glad they were close, and that their friendship was able to endure. She was funny, quirky and strong. There were the 'mean girls' and they were well written. I like that we got to see a bit of their motivations and history through Ellie's special power.
This is a quick and easy read and I recommend it! I cannot wait to read Eternity and continue to watch the battle between dark and light, and the role that Ellie plays in the balance.

Author Interview Monday with Marilyn Bunderson (The Mark)

http://www.mrbunderson.com/images/marilyn/marilyn.jpg
About Marilyn:
"As a child I often imagined that I had magical powers like super strength or the ability to fly. Other times would pretend I had rich relatives somewhere who would swoop in and turn my life into a fairytale. In the meantime I spent my time with a very normal loving family in a very normal small mid-west town. I survived high school (go KV Tigers) during the “big hair” eighties, which my children think is hilarious, and spent my time reading, shooting hoops, playing the violin, spending time with friends, and studying. When I grew up I got whisked off to a beautiful castle by a handsome prince to find the fairytale life I’d always imagined. I still spend my time reading, shooting hoops, playing the violin, and spending time with friends; along with writing, trying not to do housework, and teaching my children to live their dreams."
From Marilyn's website

She was gracious enough to answer some interview questions for the blog, and here they are:

--Can you give us a brief description of The Mark in your own words?

The Mark is a book about a group of teenagers who find they have a lot in common. They were all adopted, they all have the same color eyes, they have a connection when they touch . . . and they all have the same unique mark. As they struggle to discover who they really are and where they're from, they are drawn together to face a common enemy. Someone who will stop at nothing to make sure they never learn the truth.

--How did you get the idea for the story?

I got my first idea for this book while I was reading another book. There was a scene in that book that I thought would go a totally different direction--and then it didn't. But I thought . . . what if . . .? What if something did happen when two people touched? I built from that and the story grew as I typed. --Which character would you most/least like to have dinner with? Gaia. She's lived a long time and her views have undergone drastic changes. I think it would be fun to sit down with her and learn more about her. --What are some of your favorite books?

--
--Do you still have much time to read?

Do I still have time to breathe? Um, yeah. Okay, maybe not as much as I would like, but those night hours are free and open baby. Favorite books/authors: Jane Austin (Pride and Prejudice), Shannon Hale (The Princess Academy), Rick Riordan (The Last Olympian), Stephanie Meyer (Twilight), Louisa May Alcott (Eight Cousins), J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), Jessica Day George (Princess of the Midnight Ball), Journey for a Princess by Margaret Leighton (I read it 10 times or more as a child).

--If a fairy godmother told you your life could be like a favorite book for 24 hours, which book would you pick and why?

You know, when you think about it, a lot of nasty stuff happens in books. Sure, many of them end with happily ever after, but the journey to get there is usually horrible. If I were to step into Twilight, would I really want to worry about vampires. Yikes, no thanks. The world of Pride and Prejudice is filled with mud, hard work, and social injustice. The Lightening Thief?--waaay to scary. But just for fun, and just for a little while (as long as I could choose if I were a good guy or a bad guy) I'd have to say Harry Potter just so I could have magic powers for a day.

--Do you need anything to write (music, coffee, etc)? Are there any songs on The Mark "playlist-" songs that inspired you or that were playing while you wrote?

You can check out The Mark playlist on my blog: www.mrbunderson.blogspot.com. I don't mind music when I write, it can be helpful, but children asking questions and needing help stops me cold. I need either music or SILENCE in order to write. With 6 children, 5 still at home, I have to write when they're at school. While I was writing The Mark, my daughter, then 16, was working on Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. You can hear her play it on my playlist. Obviously, that played a lot into my main character development. Tori is not like my daughter personality wise but her piano playing is definitely from my daughter, Sam.

--Could you give us any teasers from the sequel?

Going at it from a different perspective. This one won't be from Tori's POV.

--If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

The ability to move things without touching them.

--Besides writing, what do you like to do in your free time?

I love to read, play piano and violin, volleyball, basketball, and or course, eating. I just love good food.

--Is there anything else you want to add or say to your readers?

One of the main things that finally pushed me into writing was my disappointment with the raunchiness meter in YA books. There seems to be this big cycle where authors are putting more sex into books, maybe publishers are pushing for it. It's certainly an easy way to make a book interesting. Then readers/viewers grow accustomed to these lower levels of morality in both books and movies. Behaviors follow. I think there is a market for clean books. I decided that if I had a problem with these new trends I could either shut up and be disapproving or do something about it. I decided to do what I could to promote clean reads for teenagers. The more books out there, the better. Okay, lecture done. Don't I sound just like the mother of teenage girls?

Marilyn's blog, and  twitter

Thank you so much for your time!!

My review here
The Mark The Mark by M.R. Bunderson
"She's had it forever. A tiny mark on her hand. No big deal, right? But when Tori discovers that her ordinary freckle is really some kind of microscopic tattoo, she doesn't know what to think, especially after meeting Eric, a guy she feels strangely connected to--and not just because he has a mark too. All too soon, Tori and Eric realize that their marks are only the first clue to a mystery that will change everything. And with each new discovery, Tori finds herself pulled deeper and deeper into a world she could never have imagined."

Review: A Match Made in High School by Kristin Walker

A Match Made in High School
>A Match Made in High School by Kristin Walker

When the principal announces that every senior must participate in a mandatory year-long Marriage Education program, Fiona Sheehan believes that her life can't get any worse. Then she marries her “husband”: jerky jock Todd, whose cheerleader girlfriend, Amanda, has had it in for Fiona since day one of second grade. Even worse? Amanda is paired with Fiona's long-term crush, Gabe. At least Fiona is doing better than her best friend, Marcie, who is paired up with the very quiet, very mysterious Johnny Mercer.
Pranks, fights, misunderstandings, and reconciliations ensue in an almost Shakespearean comedy of errors about mistaken first impressions, convoluted coupling, and hidden crushes.

*My Review*

A Match Made in High school is a hilarious read with a quirky main character you can't help but love. It should come with a warning label: do not read while someone is trying to sleep in the same room as you. It kept me up all night and I kept waking up my husband with fits of giggles.
Fiona is an 'outcast' carefree and not afraid to speak her mind. I could really relate with that, because I wasn't in any of the cliches in high school. She is witty and has pranks going with her assigned husband, who she initially hates. Their banter is amazing, and I love to watch how their truce formed.
The little girl that she babysits is amazing too, and I love the truths that she speaks, and how profound they really are. We forget as we get older true friendship, forgiveness and innocent love.
And don't even get me started on Johnny Mercer. He is a wonderful character and I am glad that he breaks the mold. His personality is wonderful and although his looks are not the greatest, I would date him any day (well, provided I wasn't already married, but you get my drift.) His humor, his loyalty, his kindness, and selflessness really blew me away.
Although there are a lot of cliched groups in this book, Kristin really makes it her own. She puts her own spin on it, and she has the main character Fiona learn something about herself and others. It helps to bridge the gap in between the social divides.
I recommend this book when you need a light, easy, and HILARIOUS read.

I would love to hear what you think of the book and/or my review.
